Occitanie

Occitanie is a large and diverse region in the south of France, stretching from the Mediterranean coast all the way to the Pyrenees mountains and bordering Spain and Andorra. Toulouse is its capital and largest city.

This region offers an incredible variety of landscapes and experiences. Think sandy beaches along the Mediterranean, wild gorges and national parks, rolling vineyards, historic towns, medieval villages, and dramatic mountain scenery. Occitanie is also rich in history, with Roman sites, medieval castles on rocky peaks, and charming old towns full of character.

Whether you want to explore vibrant cities like Toulouse, Montpellier, or Nimes, relax in seaside resorts, hike in the Pyrenees or Cévennes National Park, wander through storybook villages, or enjoy local cuisine and wines – Occitanie has something for every kind of traveler.

Best time to visit

Occitanie enjoys a mostly Mediterranean climate, especially along the coast, with hot, dry summers and mild winters. Inland and mountainous areas can be cooler. July and August are ideal for beach holidays but can be hot and busy. For sightseeing, road trips, and outdoor activities, spring and autumn are perfect, offering pleasant temperatures, fewer crowds, and beautiful scenery.
