Cote d’Azur, also known as the French Riviera, is located within the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region in the South of France. There are no official borders, but it’s considered a coastal area that extends from Menton at the France–Italy border to somewhere near Marseille. Looks like everyone has their opinion on where does the Côte d’Azur end! The largest city in the area is Nice, with a population of about 350k people.
Cote d’Azur became a popular and fashionable spot in the late 18th century when the British upper class fell in love with this region and started to visit it frequently. Well, there’s no point in even being surprised by that! It’s really hard to resist mesmerizing azure waters, sun-kissed beaches with mighty mountains in the backdrop, charming towns, and countless magnificent views!
No matter if you prefer to visit medieval villages like Saint Paul de Vence or Eze, have some fun in vibrant cities like Nice or Cannes, spend a relaxing time in seaside towns like Antibes or Saint Tropez, or just enjoy delicious French cuisine… On Cote d’Azur, every traveler will find something to enjoy. This region is definitely a place that will leave you enchanted, no matter when you visit or for what purpose.
Cote d’Azur has a Mediterranean climate with sunny, hot, and dry summers and mild winters. Rain isn’t very frequent in this region. If high temperatures, around 30°C, and crowds don’t bother you – visit during the high season from June to August. If you prefer quieter times and lower temperatures, around 15-20°C, choose any month in the lower season. We think spring and autumn are the best.
