Discover Tricity, Poland

Gdansk

Gdansk is the biggest and most popular of Tricity’s cities. It’s also one of Poland’s major travel destinations among foreigners. It’s a delightful city with a rich and turbulent history – it was here on Westerplatte that World War II began, and the Solidarity movement was created, leading to the fall of communism.

Nowadays, Gdansk is best known for its old town full of beautiful and colorful townhouses and lovely riverside areas. In Gdansk, you’ll find a wide variety of activities – from exploring the nooks and crooks of the old town, learning about Polish history, visiting interesting museums to taking a photo with Neptune, buying beautiful amber products, eating local food, and relaxing on the sandy beach.

How many days are enough for Gdansk?

2 full days will give you enough time to see all the most popular spots in the city. But if you want to experience it more and also discover places beyond city walls we recommend spending around 5-7 days.

Gdynia

Gdynia is the youngest of Tricity’s cities, established only in 1926. So instead of ancient monuments and rich history, there you’ll find quirky modernist architecture, a waterfront square with impressive ships, beautiful sandy beaches, numerous green spaces, and Poland’s major port.

Gdynia might not be as popular as its nearby older siblings, but it’s a dynamically developing seaport city with a unique character. Whether you’re interested in exploring maritime history, relaxing on a beach, enjoying outdoor activities, or admiring unique architecture – Gdynia has something for you.

How many days are enough for Gdynia?

A few hours will be enough to see all the main attractions and get a good feel of what this city is all about. Gdynia might also be a nice and peaceful home base for discovering the area.

Sopot

Sopot is a beautiful and trendy Polish seaside town, Tricity’s smallest one. Since the late 19th century, it has attracted wealthy aristocrats and intellectual elite looking for a magnificent place to relax. Nowadays, Sopot is still a popular holiday spot, accessible to all.

Famous wooden pier stretching out into the Bay of Gdansk, award-winning sandy beaches, plenty of wellness centers and spas, beautiful architecture, crooked house, tasty local dishes, and vibrant nightlife… All of that, and more, is waiting in Sopot.

How many days are enough for Sopot?

You can discover the most popular places in Sopot in just a few hours. However, if you want to take advantage of everything it offers, 2 or 3 days should do.

Tricity, Poland – Summing up & Our opinion

Three cities, three unique destinations, and stories. As you can see now, Tricity is a beautiful and diverse area along the Polish coast. There you’ll find not only beautiful cities to explore, but you’ll also feel sand under your feet and a breeze on your skin on the beaches.

We hope this post was helpful, and now you’re one step closer to choosing Tricity as your next Poland travel destination. An exciting journey through history, culture, architecture, and nature awaits here. We hope you’ll love it!

As Poles, we’ve visited Tricity a couple of times before, mainly during the holiday season so not during the best time! Our last trip was the most conscious and planned, and we got a lot out of it. We visited in mid-September and made Gdańsk our home base. We really enjoyed our trip and we think that Tricity is a must-see destination in Poland. If you don’t have time to visit all the cities, be sure to put Gdansk at the top of your priorities.

If we can give you some advice, try to avoid visiting Tricity (or basically anywhere on the Polish seaside) during July and August. It’s the time when kids have summer school holidays and thousands of families head to the Baltic Sea for vacations. June and September will be busy too, but not that busy.
