They called the place a “desert” as their monastery was located far from the nearest settlement and they offered a place for a spiritual retreat in a remote spot.

Our opinion about Desert de les Palmes
We visited Desert de les Palmes in early September as a day trip from Benicassim where we lived for a few weeks. We did some short trails, ate dinner with a view, and simply enjoyed a peaceful environment.
Until today we remember this day very fondly. What surprised us, was the high number of cyclists on the road as the way up is quite long and steep. But it’s probably more pleasant to cycle with such wonderful views around!
