Spectacular Fonts De l’Algar Waterfalls near Benidorm, Spain

In Fonts de l’Algar you’ll walk about 1.5km along the banks of the river Algar. During that time you’ll discover spectacular waterfalls, springs, as well as pools in which you can take a refreshing bath in crystal, cold waters. Water is cold even on warm, sunny days – so don’t forget about that and get ready. If you’re not into swimming into the cold water you can just sit and relax with the sound of waterfalls in the background.

Things to do near Fonts de l’Algar, Spain

A visit to Fonts de l’Algar is rather a short trip so if you want you can easily connect it with visiting other places nearby such as Guadalest, Altea, Calpe, Polop, or Benidorm. Personally, we recommend choosing Guadalest, as it’s also a place which can be seen in just a few hours.

Also, looks like only 1km from the waterfalls there is DinoPark – a theme park with full-scale robotic dinosaurs, a 3D theatre, and many educational activities. Perfect place if you’re traveling with kids!

Our opinion about Fonts de l’Algar Waterfalls

For us, a visit to waterfalls was a half-day trip (connected with a trip to nearby Polop town) from Benidorm, where we were living for a few weeks. We visited in October and during that time there weren’t too many visitors, at least early in the morning. Although the outside temperature was still quite high, the area itself was fairly cold. It was early in the morning and the shade from the valley blocked the rising sun. It got warmer with time but we were really glad that we took our hoodies with us!

As for our opinion, we really enjoyed our short time in Fonts de l’Algar. Strolling in nature, among waterfalls, springs, and pools was a pure pleasure. A nice change from bustling city life on the coast. Sitting and eating lunch in the picnic area with stunning views over Puig Campana mountain was also a very nice experience. Oh, and we recommend buying some local Nispero products – delicious!
