After a very intense first two years and a turbulent third one, we’ve learned the lesson and decided to (finally) balance our digital nomads’ travels. But let’s start from the beginning… In August 2021, after months of preparation, we left our familiar, cozy world, hit the road, and drove into the unknown. And just like that, we became digital nomads. Over the last 4 years, we’ve lived in 5 countries and more than 25 cities, explored many beautiful places, and learned some important life lessons. Now, let’s dive into the fourth year, aka #season4, of our digital nomad life and see what happened.

Our digital nomads’ #season4 – Retrospective
If you’re not familiar with our previous retrospectives, you need to know that, for us, this lifestyle isn’t only about traveling to places from our bucket list. It’s also about working. When we travel to a new area, we prepare a list of locations that we want to explore and prepare content for this travel blog. So our sightseeing isn’t only just sightseeing – it’s a carefully planned day full of preparing materials. We love it, but as it turned out, it might be tiring and mentally draining while doing nonstop.
What happened in #season4?
As you already know, the first two years flew by, the third was marked by our travel-work burnout, and in year four we finally regained balance. After spending 4 months in Poland, and after careful planning of the next steps, we started #season4 in November. Highly motivated and full of energy.
Before leaving, we prepared a (hopefully) well-balanced plan. Well, like always, but this time we decided to mix spending time in places we already know (and only create some additional content for the blog) with exploring totally new areas. And in the end spending a few months in the place we love most.
On the first day of #season4 we left Wroclaw, and after four days of driving, we finally set foot in our next temporary home in Benalmadena, a lovely coastal town near Malaga. We spent 7 amazing weeks there. As it was the area we already knew and explored thoroughly (during #season1 we lived in nearby Mijas), we didn’t overwork ourselves, and we only created additional content from this region of Andalusia.
Then we moved to Benidorm where we spent 4 weeks. Coming back to Costa Blanca was mostly about updating old content, but we also explored two new towns.
Our next step was Cullera, a small coastal town near Valencia. That was a totally new region for us, and the next 5 weeks were quite busy with all the trips. And apparently even such a short period of time filled with intense work was a bit too much. To our surprise, we started to feel burnt out again! And we were really glad that after that only one more stop was waiting – our beloved place near Nice, where we were supposed to spend 5.5 months (in the end we stayed only for a little bit over 4 months as we cancelled the last 5 weeks).
In total, during #season4 we spent 4 months in Spain and 4 months in France. As usual, we finished the season in Poland. We planned to leave again in October, but… surprise surprise… We’re still here in December! Wild! Thankfully, at least for now (knock knock), the weather is bearable, fairly warm and sunny for this time of the year. We’re also using that time to travel around Poland to prepare new content too – you can already check out posts from medieval Torun, scenic Zakopane with Tatra Mountains, and moving Auschwitz.
Curious why we decided to shorten our dreamy summer time and come to Poland already in July? Well… We decided to buy our first apartment! We were tired of living out of suitcases and with all our things being scattered around in different places. We wanted to have a place where we could come back whenever we want, without worrying about all the logistics weeks ahead. So now we’re patiently waiting for the keys, and then for the renovation team to prepare our apartment. We hope that the #season5 will start somewhere in May, but for now we must stay flexible and can’t really plan anything big as there are a lot of moving parts involved.
Looks like nothing too exciting will happen soon, apart from our 2-week trip to Cote d’Azur in February and maybe some more Polish travels, so let’s say that #season4 ends today, on the last day of 2025.
How did we travel?
Nothing has changed in that matter compared to the last 3 years. We were still driving through Europe by car, our reliable Honda Civic VIII. For us, it’s a very convenient way of traveling. We love the fact that the car gives us the freedom to travel whenever and wherever we want, without worrying about any public transport timetables and delays.

Best #season4 memories
After spending the next few months in our favorite place in southern France, we got convinced even more that we’ve found our place on earth. Hopefully, soon we’ll be able to buy a home there too! No matter how long we spend there, we’re never bored, and we don’t want to leave. It was love at first sight, which 4 years later hasn’t faded away and has only become stronger.
We also loved the fact that we dared to go to the cinema to see Lilo & Stitch in French – we wanted to test our language skills after a year+ of learning. And it was good! We also saw How to Train Your Dragon (it was a bit harder but still understandable), but only because it was almost 40 degrees outside, we were melting in the apartment, and we just wanted to cool down somewhere, haha!
As for Spain, we still are not huge fans, but we think it’s an amazing winter spot. Andalusia is still our favorite region in the south of Spain, and probably the only one where we will be coming back from now on. We came back after two years, and we were surprised by some positive changes, such as more bread options in the supermarkets and more restaurants opened in the afternoon. From silly things, we were positively surprised to see inPost lockers in Spain – shopping finally got easier!
As in each season, we also ate a lot of delicious food. From Spain, memories of delicious local salmorejo and mazzamora in Cordoba will stay with us for long. Near Malaga, we also really enjoyed trying espetos and original horchata. But we mostly miss southern French food – we just love baguettes, cheese, flan, and Italian food (of which there is plenty here) from pastas, and pizzas to ice creams…
We also enjoyed exploring new and old places in Poland. We thought it would be quite boring as it wasn’t our first time in most of the places but we had so much fun! Especially, medieval Torun surprised us. Seriously, why is it more popular among foreigners and Polish people?!
And we can’t forget about the fact that this year we also met a lot of furry cat friends
Retrospective on our digital nomads #season4 – Summing up
So yeah, there is that for #season4. For some, that might not be much, some might even say it was a boring year, but for us it was a good year. We liked the balanced travels we planned – it worked really well for us.
What are we planning to do next? We’re definitely not stopping just yet! We can confirm that #season5 is going to happen, just after our apartment-buying break. We’re already tired of living in one place for such a long time and can’t wait to hit the road again! We enjoy being digital nomads, and we aren’t tired of that lifestyle. But we’re also happy that the next adventure will start and end in our own place.
