Our opinion about Oppède-le-Vieux
For us, a visit to Oppede le Vieux village was a day trip from nearby Orgon, where we lived for a few weeks. We combined it with a visit to the nearby Menerbes. We visited Oppede in mid-May, and during that time it was very peaceful with only a handful of other visitors around. So we practically had the medieval streets to ourselves – exactly what we love most! Exploring everything we wanted took us about 2 hours.
What can we say? We were enchanted by Oppede-le-Vieux. From the moment we saw the village clinging to the hillside, we knew it would be special. But walking through ancient streets and past abandoned houses alongside beautifully restored ones – it exceeded our expectations. The views from the top of the village are absolutely worth every step too!
Unlike more touristy nearby spots like Gordes or Roussillon, Oppède still feels like a genuine discovery. It’s one of the most atmospheric and photogenic villages in all of Provence – and trust us, you really don’t want to miss it!
